In 2001, I researched and wrote most of the static content for the website of this agency, which promotes the greater participation by older people in society.
The site, which was then called OlderinIreland.ie, was nominated for the Irish Internet Association’s Net Social Contribution Award in 2002. Many of the lists and factsheets I wrote are still on the site either in original or updated format.
I also held a number of other part-time and contract positions with the agency. I maintained its library of books and policy papers on ageing in 2002 and 2003, while I also helped update the contact details for and proofread the guide book Opportunities in Retirement.
I also wrote a policy paper for the agency on taking a human rights approach to older people’s issues, collated press cuttings from the agency’s Bealtaine arts festival, and assisted with many basic office operations.
