From July 2010 to August 2011, I worked at The Prague Post as Web Editor/News Reporter, a dynamic, newly created role that combined news reporting with editing praguepost.com.
Over this time I wrote more than 140 news reports on a wide range of high-profile topics including politics, foreign affairs, corruption, health, the legacies of communism, crime, social affairs, business and legal affairs as well as many popular color stories and features.
My reports included five front page lead stories on the Czech floods of summer 2010, a constitutional challenge to Prague election results, EU privacy rules, protests against national pay cuts and outcry over plans for a homeless ‘concentration camp’ outside Prague.
At the same time, I edited all sections of praguepost.com, successfully increasing readership via a number of initiatives such as: the web-only Daily News Briefing; a rotating homepage flash box highlighting top content; a headline ticker with the latest stories; an interactive restaurant map of the best restaurants as reviewed by the paper’s food writers.
I also managed and expanded the paper’s social media channels, achieving a 300% rise in Facebook Likes and 1,000% rise in Twitter followers.
