Bill Lehane is a journalist and writer from Dublin, Ireland who specializes in news and online media.

In March 2015, he took up a new role at Bloomberg News as an Oil Markets Reporter in the leading global newswire’s European headquarters in London.

In this post he covers all aspects of oil markets news with a special focus on European oil products trading and refinery outages as well as oil shipping.

From August 2011 to February 2015, he worked as an Online News Reporter in London for Upstream, the international oil and gas newspaper. In this role, he wrote breaking news updates and interview-based online news features about the oil and gas industry, as well as occasional stories for the print edition.

From July 2010 to August 2011, he worked as the Web Editor/News Reporter at The Prague Post, the Czech Republic’s premier news source in English for both international and domestic readers.

In this role, Bill edited all sections of praguepost.com and managed social media channels, and also wrote several news stories for each week’s print edition of the paper and the national, regional and European news briefs.

In 2009/2010, Bill spent a year as a freelance writer and copy editor based in the United States and China.

During this time, he worked in a wide range of freelance positions, including writing for local what’s on magazines, top travel websites and quirky news site WeirdAsiaNews.com, as well as freelance copy editing and music blogging/social media management for LA-based One Cell Records.

Between 2003 and 2009, Bill worked full-time as an interactive news journalist with RTÉ, Ireland’s largest TV and radio network.

As well as gaining extensive experience in news media, in his time at the station he gained a Masters in Intercultural Studies and wrote a book on interculturalism in Irish public service broadcasting, which is available on Amazon. He also wrote almost 50 arts reviews for The Entertainment Network, RTÉ’s entertainment website.

He has also worked in newspaper subediting with the Irish Sun and in business news reporting with the Sunday Business Post, Ireland’s national business and politics weekly.
