Gas Stations in Eastern Germany Start Running Dry After Refinery Fire

Some gas stations in eastern Germany began to run short of gasoline and diesel following May’s vacuum distillation unit fire at Total’s Leuna oil refinery in eastern Germany. Demand to ship diesel barges inland from Hamburg increased, and chemical producers next to the refinery looked at alternative sources of feedstock for their plants. I started a new post as the full-time reporter covering European refinery outage news. 

March 2015

I moved to Bloomberg News to take up a job as Oil Markets Reporter in the European headquarters in London, with a special focus on European oil products trading and refinery outages as well as oil shipping.

Got the inside story on the likely makeup of the Barryroe oil field’s development off the coast of Cork, Ireland, some weeks before the results of an expert review on the topic are due to be made known. November 2011

My book was featured by the Council of Europe in its Compendium, an online database of recent cultural policies and trends around the continent.

August 2011

Moved to London to take up a new full-time position as Online News Reporter for Upstream, the international oil and gas newspaper.

April 2011

My book was included in the European University Institute’s Mediva database of 250 books in eight languages covering diversity and migrant integration issues in European media. As well as including the book in their database, the Mediva project made several references to it in the training strand of a five-report series that aimed to survey the current state of the issue (more info on my Book page).
